Like Water for Chocolate

Like Water for Chocolate - Laura Esquivel, Carol Christensen, Thomas Christensen I remember really loving this movie when I was a wee tween, full of angst and drama. And while I love the magical realism in this book, it is also so filled with deep lady sorrow that it was heartbreaking to read. The women in this book just can't win, and they are destined to stay in the kitchen and cry into their cake batter. But the blending of recipes with the story is beautiful.
