Musings of a Book Addict

I'm married to a scavenger of sorts and he often totes home rescued boxes of books that I paw through with shiny, hungry eyes. I pull out the odd and interesting and add them to my teetering stack.

Are You My Guru?: How Medicine, Meditation & Madonna Saved My Life

Are You My Guru?: How Medicine, Meditation & Madonna Saved My Life - Wendy Shanker I was a lucky winner of this book through the Pretty Pear blog. First let me say that this is not for the weak of heart. Wendy Shanker goes into great detail about her illness and the physical outcome of not just her illness but the healing treatments she experiences. It's an engrossing read (and a gross read?) and her journey to finding her own spiritual healing path through Ayurveda, Madonna, and other Eastern, Western and Everything Else therapies is written with Shanker's signature wit and hilarity. There were MANY cringe-worthy moments in reading this, but her honesty and sense of humor make it a powerful read!
