Musings of a Book Addict

I'm married to a scavenger of sorts and he often totes home rescued boxes of books that I paw through with shiny, hungry eyes. I pull out the odd and interesting and add them to my teetering stack.

A Natural History of the Senses

A Natural History of the Senses - I really wanted to like this book. There are many gems and fascinating facts scattered throughout these chapters, but I really had a hard time slogging through the whole thing. Originally, these were a series of short essays and you can really tell - all the dense scientific information doesn't really flow together, although she made a nice attempt by sharing her personal stories relating to some of the senses and science. I learned some amazing things, but overall I felt bombarded with too much information and not enough personal touch and human experience.
